Bye Bye Betty

I won't lie. I haven't sold anything in a while on Etsy. It seems that a lot of people have been in a slump there. So I have been thinking of diversifying, taking all my eggs out of that one proverbial basket if you will. I had listed one of my felties on Ebay before with no results. I have spied on conversations on Etsy about "EvilBay" and how you have to be willing to sell for dirt cheap and how handmade things just don't sell there. But then I stumbled on the site of a woman who makes miniatures and sells them for decent prices on Ebay. So I decided to give it a go again. Little Betty Bento has gotten far less adoration than I feel she deserves being so very adorable and all so I chose her. I revised her listing a couple of times, watched her carefully, crossed my fingers. Nada. Then last night on the last day of the auction she got a bid and had two people "watching" her. I had set a minimum price because I didn't want to accept like $5 for her but it was still low. And that's what I got. Half of what I would have gotten on Etsy. But lately things just aren't moving on Etsy. So I guess it's the slow dime-fast nickel thing. I just feel kind of like a sell out for taking half price for something I worked so hard on. At least one more person will have one of my little felted minions in their house and maybe spread the love. I'm not sure whether I will do it again though.
