An Ironic Arbor Day

Today is Arbor Day. Apparently, in celebration this week our dear city decided that they would cut down all the trees on the street where I live. This was done because the area needs to be "landscaped". I believe they are going with xeriscaping though at the moment it appears to be zero-scaping. In the picture above the pile of woodchips is what remains of a tree that I used to see out my front window every day. When I say all the trees I mean it. Not one tree was spared. The trees in the background in the pic are in private yards. All the rest are sawdust. Just after all of this began I found a dead baby bird in our yard. I didn't take a picture of that because I figured it would gross you out.

Your Arbor Day card made me happy, but this pic makes me very sad.
